What's Good #24

Table of Contents

Despite getting plenty of gaming and reading done this month, a personal policy of mine is this blog should only include things that were done not simply started so those will have to wait.

Dragon Boat Races

The 2026 dragon boat season is winding down, for my team at least, with a whopping 2 races in September!

First we raced in the Portland Dragon Boat Festival where we took gold in Mixed A division, and 2nd in the Open and 2k races which is pretty respectable.

Then we got a team together to race in a race in San Diego which was a blast. That was my first time traveling a notable distance to race and staying over night for a race, so it was a lot of "firsts". That said we didn't metal in that race, which was humbling as expected.

Steam Frame

I really lucked out and got into the first batch of Steam Frame shipments. I've mostly been using it as a big screen for gaming, a movable screen for when I exercise, and a convenient screen when I fold laundry -- the latter two I use pass-through mode to see what I'm doing while watching movies.

My last VR headset was the HTC Vive so this has been a huge upgrade. I've heard gripes about it, and of course I wish it was cheaper, but over all I'm a happy customer.

Twisted Tower

I started this month playing Twisted Tower, which really scratched a Bioshock itch I didn't know I had. A nice short game with tight mechanics and doesn't over-stay it's welcome.
