I love Scalzi and this series continues to be really fun.

As I have mentioned before (maybe?) his work is consistently pulpy, interesting, and completely unconcerned about the science. It's not exactly magic, but it's more "Hey this would be a cool idea -- beam me up Scotty!" and less "Given our present understanding of physics this could be possible with these exact steps over the next 200 years". I love that. For me, fun sci-fi is about exploring fun ideas without worrying about what we have or think we might have today.

Ghost Brigades also goes into some interesting social dynamics between the Ghosts, basically child soldiers in adult bodies. It also gets into identity with the main character kind of being a soft fork of the antagonist. Really interesting and I'm excited to read the other... 5 books in this series!
