Children of the Sun

I played the story mode for Children of the Sun and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Something about the sniper genre really intrigues me. I can't say it's my favorite genre, not even my favorite FPS genre, but I do enjoy them when I play them. I think it's that you are given time to methodically solve a complex system, similar to Dishonored-like systems games, but without getting your hands dirty directly.
Children of the Sun puts a twist on the genre by saying "What if your bullet just kept goin'?" When you shoot somebody, the bullet can then be re-aimed from that spot and shot again! This results in the bullet wizzing this way and that across the map drawing a beautiful constellation of carnage in it's wake.
You of course get powers like slowing down time, and speeding up the bullet, both of which are required to beat certain enemy types that require moving around corners, and an extra hard hit respectively.
I also fell in love with the punk rock aesthetic. The grunge atmosphere and "coloring outside the lines" illustrations felt very rough in a way that complemented the story nicely. The character's feelings reflect the art style and I appreciate that cohesion.
I enjoyed my time with the game, but as usual I won't be playing beyond the campaign. I hear there is a great endless mode/arcade-ey mode, but that's not my bag. That said the mechanics are 100% up for it if you want to spend a few more hours in that world.
